Community Links
Text
At Bollin Primary School, we place great importance on developing strong, purposeful links with our local community. These partnerships play a significant role in supporting pupils’ personal development, broadening their experiences and promoting the school’s values of respect, responsibility and kindness. Our community work is carefully planned to enhance curriculum provision and strengthen our contribution to the wider life of Bowdon and the surrounding area.
Local Partnerships and Enrichment Opportunities
We work collaboratively with a range of community organisations to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and understanding of the world:
-
Bowdon Allotments
Our ongoing link with Bowdon Allotments enables pupils to participate in hands‑on outdoor learning, supporting the science curriculum and promoting environmental responsibility, sustainability and healthy living.
-
St Mary’s Church, Bowdon
We maintain a positive and long‑established relationship with St Mary’s Church. Pupils visit the church as part of the Religious Education curriculum, local history work and community celebrations. These visits support pupils in developing an understanding of faith, heritage and the role of community institutions.
-
South Manchester Trafford Food Bank
Bollin Primary School actively supports the South Manchester Trafford Food Bank through regular collections and awareness activities. This partnership helps pupils understand social responsibility, community cohesion and the practical impact of charitable action.
-
Francis House Children’s Hospice
Our school community contributes to the work of Francis House through fundraising events and awareness‑raising activities. This link enables pupils to develop empathy, compassion and an understanding of how charitable organisations provide vital support to children and families.
Collaboration Across Education and Trust Networks
-
Early Years and Secondary Transition Links
We maintain strong relationships with local nurseries and secondary schools to ensure smooth and well‑structured transitions. These partnerships support continuity of learning, pastoral care and academic readiness.
-
Inspiring Learners Trust
As a member of Inspiring Learners Trust, Bollin Primary works collaboratively with Trust schools to strengthen curriculum design, digital innovation, inclusive practice and leadership development. Joint professional learning, moderation and cross‑school projects enhance provision and contribute to pupils’ academic and personal outcomes.
Community Engagement and Wider Opportunities
We engage with a variety of local sports, arts and cultural organisations to provide enrichment opportunities for all pupils. Participation in community events, performances, competitions and charitable initiatives broadens pupils’ experiences and helps them develop confidence, leadership skills and a strong sense of belonging.
Our Commitment to Community Partnership
Bollin Primary School is committed to sustaining and developing community partnerships that enhance pupils’ learning and wellbeing. Through these strong, well‑established links, we provide meaningful opportunities that support children’s academic progress, social development and preparation for their future education and life beyond school in the 21st Century.
